The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) is a non-profit, trans-national organization, and is the world's leading technical professional association for the advancement of technology. The IEEE encompasses professionals, teachers and students with an interest in technology and provides them with a forum for interaction through its innumerable symposia, conventions, publications and competitions.
The IEEE Student Branch of Thadomal Shahani Engineering College (TSEC) was inaugurated by our honorable principal, Prof. Kranti Kumar in the year 1990. Since then IEEE-TSEC has rapidly evolved into one of the largest IEEE Branches with over 500 members. TSEC is particularly renowned for being one of the most prestigious institutions under the aegis of the Mumbai University and its very mention elicits a response soaked in awe everywhere in the engineering fraternity.
We, at IEEE-TSEC aim to promote awareness of the IEEE through an array of exciting and informative events ranging from technical seminars to career events as well as social and field trips. IEEE-TSEC provides to its members a blend of technical prowess combined with an aptitude to tap the job market successfully.
IEEE-TSEC comprises of four Societies that endeavour to cover all facets of engineering and give their members an all round growth in their field.
IEEE-TSEC has four technical societies: -
- IEEE Computer Society
- IEEE Communications Society
- IEEE Engineering in Medical and Biology Society (EMBS)
- IEEE Industrial Electronics Society (IES)
During the course of the year IEEE-TSEC organises a variety of exciting events which tend to the professional and social interests of students. Here are some of the things you should mark your calendars for:
ISAAC: IEEE Students' Activities and Conferences (ISAAC) is the Annual Technical Festival held in October every year which consists of a plethora of events such as seminars, workshops, technical contests like Circuit Eye, Laser Logic, Spin a Web, Paper presentations, ROBOTICS and many non-technical events like the ever popular treasure hunt, junkyard wars, DJ mixing workshop and a lot more. ISAAC is a huge hit amongst the student masses from a large number of engineering colleges all across India.
Industrial Trip: It’s an Annual ten day trip to the industrially developed cities in India and is one of the biggest highlights of the year. This facilitates the students' interaction with the industries in different parts of the country and brings together the valuable experience of witnessing the ground realities of the work environment intertwined with the pleasures of visiting the most beautiful places in India!
Industrial Visit '08 to Chandigarh and Shimla
Besides these the individual societies organize a host of other activities to interact with their members and sharpen their technical skills and knowledge. Tech-events like Mosaic, Pulse, Techtrix and Nova, seminars, workshops, software courses and the list goes on. Apart from the technological advantage, it also gives the students a priceless experience of managing IEEE-TSEC as an organization which shall definitely lay the foundation for our future corporate managers and CEOs.
