Scholarships & Awards

What gives an IEEE member an edge above the remaining students is that he or she is now a member of an international organisation. This serves as a big opportunity for interacting with people from different countries, with different cultures, different languages, and in the process gets much more exposure and knowledge than he otherwise would have gained. IEEE helps the students break the geographical barriers and helps bridge the gap laid by national and university-level boundaries. Besides this, IEEE pays special attention to its student members. Every year it gives out innumerable scholarships and awards in diverse fields to aspiring students and promising Student branches, some of them, which IEEE-TSEC proudly has won in its glorious past.

Best Student Branch Award

This award is to distinguish active student branches and awards them for outstanding student activities throughout the year. It is a regional Award given to deserving student branches annually, to motivate them further.

Best Branch Counsellor and Advisor Award

Aware of the unusual and dedicated efforts of Student Branch Counsellors and Branch Chapter Advisors, the Regional and Technical Activities Boards sponsor a cash award to each of approximately ten outstanding Counsellors and Advisors throughout the world. Winners will be those individuals who, through their work as Counsellors and Advisors, exemplify the Institute's commitment to the educational, personal, professional, and technical development of students in IEEE related fields of interest.

Larry K. Wilson Award

Recognizes the student most responsible for an extraordinary accomplishment associated with IEEE Student activities in each Region. The award is designed to reward a particular event or product of IEEE activities. Nominee must be a Student member of IEEE at the time of the accomplishment.

Richard E. Merwin Award and Scholarship

This is the highest-level service award. IEEE Computer Society recognizes active leaders in the IEEE Computer Society Student Branch Chapters who show promise in their academic and professional efforts. Scholarship for the same is $3000 (up to 4 such scholarships are available). The nominee must be a member of the Computer Society.

Society Awards

Computer Society recognizes its members for their outstanding accomplishments, and sponsors an active and prestigious awards program. More than 20 different awards honour technical achievements and service to the computer profession and to the society. For more information log on to Computer Society Website.

Communications Society offers Career Awards, Service Awards and Paper Awards to its members. For more information log on to COMSOC Website.

EMBS pays special attention to its student members and hence offers awards like 'The IEEE IEEE-EMBS Outstanding Performance Award for Student Club or Chapter (Honorarium $300 USD)', 'IEEE- EMBS Best Chapter Award (Honorarium $500 USD).' For more information log on to EMBS Website.
